A group of Haitian personalities and associations

(KAAD) Delegation to the UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent 

Fourth Forum, New York, 14-17 April 2025

The following individuals will represent KAAD at the forum:

  1. Nixon BOUMBA, KAAD member , is a social justice activist who uses the human right framework to achieve social change in Haiti. For the last two decades, Boumba has been an organizer and a part of the student movement, the peasant movement, the women and feminist movements, and the movement to access basic services in the slum areas particularly in Port-au-Prince.

 

  1. Carl-Henry CADET, KAAD member, is a Haitian economist, journalist, and writer specializing in international economics, data analysis, and storytelling. A contributor to Le Nouvelliste and Ayibopost, he has reported on global affairs across Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.

 

  1. Monique CLESCA, Spokesperson, KAAD, is a pro-democracy and pro-social justice feminist activist, with more than 25 years of development work. Since March 2021, she has been a member of the Commission for the search for a Haitian solution to the crisis and a member of the Office for Monitoring the Agreement of August 30, 2021. Clesca is a founding member of KAAD.

 

  1. Yrvy FRENEL, Treasurer, KAAD, is a dedicated professional with 12+ years of experience in psychology, project management, and advocacy for children’s and youth rights in Haiti. She has led diverse initiatives, including serving as Program and Outreach Manager at HAFFD. Frenel is a founding member of KAAD.

 

  1. Altagracia JEAN JOSEPH, KAAD member, is a human rights activist and lawyer and  advocate for the rights and dignity of individuals of Haitian descent, as well as Haitian migrants residing in the Dominican Republic.. She is working on a master’s Degree in migration policies and development in the Caribbean at the University Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic.

 

  1. Dr. Marie LEMY, Ph.D., MPH, Communication Chair, KAAD, is a clinical psychologist and global social justice advocate.  Dedicated to at-risk youth, education, and professional development, she also champions marginalized communities, including people of African descent, immigrants, and linguistic minorities. Dr. Lemy is a founding member of KAAD.

 

  1. Me. Jacques LETANG, KAAD member, Federation des Barreaux de Haiti, is a lawyer and magistrate by training and a Human Rights Advocate. He is a founding member of the Bureau des Droits Humains en Haïti (BDHH). From 2020 to 2025, he served as President of the Federation of Bar Associations of Haiti (FBH).

 

  1. Charlot LUCIEN, USA, KAAD member, is an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) scholar at the University of Massachusetts, where he presents lectures focusing on the historical connections between the U.S. and Haiti.  He is also a public health manager with expertise in refugee health and mental health.  

 

  1. Jocelyn McCALLA, KAAD member, is the Senior Policy Advisor for the Haitian-American Foundation for Democracy. He consults regularly with a wide range of leaders, governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations of various ideological persuasions and interests.. McCalla is a founding member of KAAD.

 

  1. Dr. Jemima PIERRE,  Secretary General, KAAD, is Distinguished Faculty of Arts Professor of African and African Diaspora Studies in the Social Justice Institute (GRSJ), and Faculty Associate in the Department of Anthropology, at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Dr. Pierre is a founding member of KAAD.

 

  1. Rose-Stella PIERRE-LOUIS, KAAD member, is an occupational therapist, keynote speaker, author, entrepreneur, and Diaspora Liberation Ambassador dedicated to wellbeing. As the founder of Stellar Transformation, Rose-Stella helps diasporans continue the work of their Ancestors by embracing self-determination, wellbeing, and purpose-driven living.

 

  1. Yvens RUMBOLD, (KAAD member, is the Executive Director of Ayiti Demen, an organization focusing primarily on sustainable development, art & culture, and education in Haiti, and co-manager of Policité, a policy think-tank in Haiti where he is based. Rumbold is a founding member of KAAD.
